The world’s biggest crane, ‘Big Carl’, was in action again in mid-November, lifting the first huge steel ring section onto the second nuclear reactor building, just 11 months after the same operation on the first unit. The ring was built 25% more quickly than the same part on Unit 1.

Amentum provides engineering studies and support to EDF Centre national d’équipement de production d’électricité engineering teams, based in Tours, for the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C EPR new build programs in the United Kingdom. Under a multidisciplinary framework covering civil, instrumentation and control, nuclear safety, HVAC and mechanical, our work focuses on conventional island and balance of plant civil engineering studies for key buildings, steel structure engineering qualification, specifications and contract supervision.
