Newcleo – Licensing support

Amentum is supporting Newcleo, a start-up based in Turin, Italy, and France, which is developing Generation IV lead-cooled fast reactor technology.
The program includes the development of a commercial-scale 200MWe reactor, alongside a lower-capacity 30 MWe prototype designed to support risk reduction ahead of full development.
Since mid-2024, Newcleo has been carrying out the design and licensing phases for both reactor systems and associated fuel cycle facilities. In this context, Amentum is contributing to the preparation and structuring of key licensing deliverables, including the Safety Option Files (DOS), a key part of the French regulatory approval process.
Two teams have been mobilized in France to support the development, structuring and submission of the required documentation, as well as the analysis and integration of feedback from the regulator.
