Amentum’s Role in Rebuilding Haiti’s Critical Infrastructure

Following the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, years of escalating turmoil and gang violence erupted. The United Nations Security Council authorized the deployment of a multinational security mission to bolster the Haitian National Police and accelerate efforts to restore peace.

In response, Amentum was selected by an international coalition for a two-year project to design, construct, and maintain operational facilities to support the multinational security support force. That mission was successfully completed in the spring of 2026.

“Amid severe civil unrest and a humanitarian emergency that forced over 700,000 Haitians from their homes, Amentum’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure and operational support has left a lasting impact on the nation of Haiti,” said Dr. Karl Spinnenweber, president of Amentum’s Mission Solutions business. “Our work played a key role in the broader international mission to restore stability and security to the region.”

Rapid Deployment for Operational Success

Amentum’s ability to execute complex operations under tight deadlines was vital to the success of the mission.

“Our advance team achieved initial operational capability in just 14 days, delivering essential support from day one,” said Richard Hayes, Amentum Mission Solutions operations vice president.

One early highlight was mobilizing mission-critical assets at unprecedented speed. “Within days, we transported a sophisticated incinerator unit from England to Haiti,” Hayes explained. “Additionally, we qualified, screened, onboarded, and coordinated the arrival of nearly 400 personnel, along with the shipment of more than 2,000 pallets of supplies.”

Expert Infrastructure Solutions for Mission Success

Based near Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Amentum established two strategically located life-support areas, designed to host up to 2,000 coalition personnel from multiple nations. On average, the sites supported a daily headcount of 1,000 deployed members. The facilities included:

• 30 modular living quarters,
• Three administrative buildings,
• A fully operational field hospital offering complete medical services,
• A robust dining facility capable of serving more than 800 meals per session, four times daily.

To ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure, our team installed 1,030 linear feet of modular perimeter barriers and managed a fleet of 37 light vehicles and 32 heavy tactical vehicles. The sites achieved full operational status six days ahead of schedule.

Leaving a Legacy

In May 2026, we concluded our mission with a seamless transition to the United Nations, ensuring continuity of operations and support.

“Amentum collaborated closely with government and international stakeholders to safely demobilize and transfer operations over an impressive 45-day transition period,” said Hayes. “Our efforts left Haiti with foundational infrastructure that will support its long-term recovery and development.”
