Mark Whitney announces Nuclear Center of Excellence at East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC)

CHANTILLY, Va., May 7, 2025 — Amentum (NYSE: AMTM), a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative technology solutions, announced the opening of its new Nuclear Center of Excellence (COE) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Nuclear COE will serve as a strategic hub for nuclear expertise, engineering, and operational excellence, furthering Amentum’s position at the forefront of nuclear solutions needed for large-scale power generation, advanced energy technologies, and strengthening the national security of the United States.

The Nuclear COE’s core mission will support the expansion of nuclear power in large and smaller scale capacities while leveraging decades of Amentum’s global experience in the nuclear industry.

The center will assist in the development of innovative technologies fit for the complexity and high standards of nuclear engineering, including AI and automation, as well as safety and cybersecurity solutions. Additionally, the center will work closely with government agencies, strengthening partnerships in the public and private sector to foster collaboration, share expertise and drive technological breakthroughs. The center will support the maintenance and modernization of nuclear infrastructure to ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities.

Leading Amentum’s Nuclear Center of Excellence in Oak Ridge is John Eschenberg, a veteran of the nuclear industry with over thirty-five years of experience in a variety of highly regulated defense, commercial, and government settings.
