Mark Whitney

Mark is President of the Amentum Energy & Environment business, directing a 9,000-employee global enterprise that provides full lifecycle technology, engineering and project delivery solutions to nuclear, environmental and defense customers in more than 20 countries. With decades of nuclear experience, deep technical resources and geographic reach and scale to support expansion efforts across multiple continents, this business is uniquely positioned to advance the global nuclear resurgence.

Previously, Mark served in other executive roles for Amentum, including President of the National Security Business Group. Prior to joining Amentum, he was the Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Nuclear & Environment Strategic Business Unit at AECOM.

Mark has held a number of senior executive service roles within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration, most recently as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management. Other positions include acting Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management, Manager of the DOE Oak Ridge Environmental Management Office, acting Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation and Assistant Deputy Administrator for Nonproliferation and International Security. Mark also served four years in the U.S. Embassy in Moscow as the Executive Director of the DOE office.

Mark serves on several commercial boards, including United Cleanup Oak Ridge (Chair), Southern Ohio Cleanup Company (Chair) and the Waste Treatment Completion Company. He is a recipient of the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Eastern Kentucky University and an MBA from George Washington University.
