Automotive / Motorsports Wind Tunnels

Amentum has been designing and building wind tunnels for the international automotive industry since the 1970s with a focus on minimum aerodynamic drag for optimum fuel economy.  As the market shifted to require a quiet interior environment isolated from road and wind noise, we have designed and built state-of-the-art aeroacoustic wind tunnels on three continents that combine the fuel economy/range and interior comfort requirements.  We have also designed and built more than 30 climatic wind tunnels around the world, which can simulate any environmental condition that may occur on the road (wind, snow, rain, humidity, altitude, solar load, etc.).  Our development of the patented adaptive wall wind tunnel test section allows us to provide unparalleled precision of downforce, drag, and pitching moment simulation to our motorsport clients.

We have a focus on sustained superior performance, managed by our ISO 9001-accredited processes for design engineering and construction.
