What is your role at Amentum?

Electrical/Controls Design Engineer

Describe a typical workday at Amentum for you (Day in The Life):

A typical day includes field work regarding design and facility configuration. Work includes protective device (fuse, circuit breaker, and relay) coordination resulting in an arc flash report.

What do you enjoy about working for Amentum and what do you find most rewarding?

Every location I go to has something interesting about it. Whether it be the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) with the Artemis rocket within or the Operations and Checkout (O&C) building that contains the Orion capsule and crew, there is always something new to learn and new to see.

What inspired you to pursue a career in engineering, and how has it shaped your journey at Amentum?

I have always been curious about how things work. Most engineers don’t look at just what can work, but how and why something works. I’ve applied that thought logic since I was in 3rd grade watching my dad work on various things. I started my journey in electrical and have branched out into controls through my time at Amentum.

Any insights or perspectives you gained working for Amentum that you didn’t expect?

I expected professional experience to be straightforward, but I was surprised to find that the adage “nothings ever easy” holds true, even with the simplest things. As an engineer, always take the time to understand the big picture and become the subject matter expert.
