Engineer Spotlight: Meet Benjamin Bair

What is your role at Amentum?
Fluids Design Engineer
Describe a typical workday at Amentum for you (Day in The Life):
A typical workday at Amentum involves generating and reviewing engineering drawings for fluid pressure systems. I build and run analysis models to make sure that flows and pressures can be provided by our ground systems to the rocket. I also inspect hardware in the field to verify that it matches the design and is in good condition.
What do you enjoy about working for Amentum and what do you find most rewarding?
There are many different systems our department covers, plenty of variety day to day. The most rewarding part is knowing that everything we work on, every drawing, document, piece of hardware, etc. directly contributes to launching the largest and most powerful rocket ever and returning humans to the Moon.
What inspired you to pursue a career in engineering, and how has it shaped your journey at Amentum?
I grew up with the space program, watching Shuttle launches my whole life. I’ve always had a technical aptitude, so it just made sense to pursue a career in the space industry. With Amentum’s position as the prime NASA contractor for Kennedy Space Center, it is the perfect place to be at the center of all the launches happening.
