Cookies, Web Beacons, and Similar Technologies

Amentum’s websites (collectively, the “Sites”) as well as certain third parties that provide content and other functionality on the Sites —use a variety of technologies to learn more about how people use the Sites and the Internet.

This section provides more information about some of those technologies and how they work.

  • Cookies: Cookies are small text files used to store information about users on the users’ own computer when users visit a website or online service to provide a better web experience. Cookies may be used to recognize your browser or device as the same user across different visits to the website or online service. Cookies may store unique identifiers, user preferences and other information. Knowing how a user is using the Sites through cookies enables us to improve the Sites, by tailoring our content and Sites to more effectively meet visitors’ needs, providing us with information about which parts of the Sites are most popular, enabling us to analyze technical and navigational information about the Sites, and helping us to detect and prevent fraud. It also enables us to improve the quality of your visit by making sure that the Sites are properly formatted for your computer and web browser. We may use “session cookies” or “persistent cookies.” Session cookies are temporary and expire once you close your browser or once your session ends. Persistent cookies remain on your device for much longer or until you or your browser erase them. Persistent cookies help your computer to remember information across multiple browsing sessions and have varying durations that are dependent on their expiration date.

We may use:

  • Necessary Cookies: These cookies are necessary for you to browse the Sites and use their features. Without these cookies, certain aspects of the Sites may not be available to you.
  • Preferences Cookies: These cookies collect information about how you have used the Sites in the past and allow the Sites to remember the choices you have made. These cookies allow us to improve how the Sites work for you and tailor the Sites to your preferences.
  • Statistics Cookies: These cookies collect information about how you use the Sites, such as which pages you most often visit on the Sites, the time you spend on the Sites, which links you click on, and any issues encountered. These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Sites. All information collected is aggregated and does not identify you.

Internet web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to manage and delete cookies, visit www.allaboutcookies.org. Some web browsers can be configured to alert you each time a cookie is being sent or to refuse cookies completely. Refer to your browser help menu for more information. Most mobile devices also offer settings to reject mobile device identifiers. Although users are not required to accept cookies or mobile device identifiers, blocking or rejecting them may prevent access to some features available through the Sites. You can also manage cookie tracking directly by clicking on the cookie icon on the bottom right-hand corner of our Sites.

  • Other local storage: Local Shared Objects (also referred to as “Flash cookies”) and HTML5 local storage are similar to cookies in that they are stored on your computer and can be used to store certain information about your activities and preferences. These objects are stored in different parts of your computer from ordinary browser cookies. Many web browsers allow you to disable HTML5 local storage or delete information contained in HTML5 local storage using browser controls.
  • Web beacons: Web beacons can be embedded in web pages, videos, or emails, and can allow a web server to read certain types of information from your browser, check whether you have viewed a particular web page or email message, and determine, among other things, the time and date on which you viewed the web beacon, the IP address of your computer, and the URL of the web page from which the web beacon was viewed. You can also manage tracking directly by clicking on the cookie icon on the bottom right-hand corner of our Sites.
  • Google Analytics: We use the web analysis tool “Google Analytics” to design our Sites according to your needs. Google Analytics creates user profiles on the basis of pseudonyms. For this purpose, persistent cookies are stored on your end device and read by us. With the help of these cookies, we are able to recognize returning visitors and count them as such. The data processing is based on your consent provided you have given your consent via our cookie banner. Google LLC (United States) supports us as a processor. The data processing is taking place outside the European Union (“EU”), European Economic Area (“EEA”) or the United Kingdom (“UK”). Google is certified under the Data Privacy Framework offering an equivalent protection of personal data. If you clicked on “Accept all cookies”, in our cookie banner you consent to the processing of your data. You can revoke your consent at any time. If you wish to withdraw your consent, you can change your cookie preferences by re-accessing the cooking banner. Simply click the cookie icon located at the bottom right-hand corner of our Sites to make changes.

If you would like to opt-out from the use of your information by Google analytics, you may also use Google’s analytics opt-out browser add-on, located at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/, designed for this purpose.

  • Hotjar: We use the web analysis tool Hotjar to better understand user behavior and optimize the user experience on our Sites. Hotjar records interactions such as clicks, mouse movements, and scroll behavior, and uses heatmaps and session recordings to provide insight into how our Sites are used. This is done using pseudonymous user profiles. Cookies and similar technologies may be placed on your device to collect this information. The data processing is based on your consent provided you have consented via our cookie banner. Hotjar Ltd., based in Malta, supports us as a processor. Data processing generally takes place within the EU/EEA. No data is used to identify individuals, nor is it merged with other data sources. If you clicked on “Accept all cookies” in our cookie banner, you consent to this processing. You may revoke your consent at any time by adjusting your cookie settings by clicking on the cookie icon, accessible at the bottom right-hand corner of the Site.  You can opt-out of Hotjar tracking by following the steps here: https://www.hotjar.com/policies/do-not-track/and can learn about Hotjar’s ability to use and share information through the Hotjar Terms & Conditions of Use, available at https://www.hotjar.com/, and the Hotjar Privacy Policy, available at https://www.hotjar.com/privacy/.
  • Embedded Videos: To make our Sites as appealing and informative as possible, we embed videos that are not hosted on our servers. In order to prevent the automatic downloading of third-party content when you visit our Sites with embedded services, we only show locally stored preview images of the video as a first step. This does not provide the third-party provider with any information. Only after you click on the preview image, will third-party content be downloaded. This provides the third party with information that you have accessed our Sites and with the usage data technically required for this purpose (e.g. your IP address, time and date, the video you viewed). The legal basis for the embedding processing is your consent if you have previously given your consent by clicking on the preview image. We have no influence on the further data processing performed by the third-party provider.
