Welcoming New Faces to TEAM Submarine’s COLUMBIA Program Office
Amentum is always proud to welcome new team members and has recently added two new experts to TEAM Submarine’s COLUMBIA Submarine Program Office.
Dr. Kaitlynn Castelle, Ph.D., PMP, CSM has joined Amentum as a Life Cycle/Product Support Strategist; she will be supporting the development of PMS397L’s vision for the future COLUMBIA integrated logistics environment and aligning stakeholders to execute the vision. Dr. Castelle’s background in Agile development will shape a team prototype project for model-based life cycle support at the Trident Refit Facilities, in alignment with the evolution of digital transformation logistics engineering tools to address sustainment planning gaps and life cycle research for future maintenance activities.
Dr. Castelle’s dissertation research demonstrated the value in measuring individual perceived productivity at work and offered that making efforts to improve it can lead to a workforce more connected to their sense of purpose and commitment to their organization and mission. Her other research interests include Agile development, prototyping, complex system governance, enterprise architecture, performance metrics, and organizational change.
Dr. Castelle previously supported the COLUMBIA Submarine Class Program by providing data science and analytics subject matter expertise with Patrona Corporation. She is also an adjunct professor and researcher at Old Dominion University where she has taught Systems Engineering Management, Project Management, Agile Project Management, Engineering Ethics & Philosophy, and Decision-Making Techniques including Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis and Monte Carlo simulation.
Dr. Lucas Marino, D.Eng., PMP, CMRP has joined Amentum as an Integrated Logistics Support Manager and Product Support Strategist. He will integrate the planning, development, and delivery of all sustainment products in COLUMBIA’s transition from design, to construction, and ultimately, service to the nation. His extensive background as both a practitioner and educator in systems engineering and project management will benefit multiple lines of effort including a prototype Integrated Logistics Environment, model-based product support initiatives, sustainment resource modeling, and program planning.
“I am excited to join Amentum to advance the disciplines of product support, logistics engineering, and project management,” said Dr. Marino. “I love developing solutions for complex programs through agile product development and the disciplined application of logistics engineering analyses. My research and experience in the Level of Repair Analysis, complex systems governance, training, and project management will help partners plan and sustain the availability of their highest-value assets.”
Dr. Marino has 22 years of experience supporting the design and maintenance of marine assets for the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army. He recently served as Logistics Program Manager at BMT for the Army’s Maneuver Support Vessel (Light) acquisition program. He is an adjunct assistant professor at Old Dominion University in the Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Department and previously taught project management for several Air Force bases. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Council of Logistics Engineering Professionals and is a frequent guest for professional podcasts including PM Point of View (PMI, DC Chapter), Rooted In Reliability (Eriditio), UE Systems, and Fluke Accelex.
