Mark Whitney

President, National Security

Mark is the President of the Amentum National Security group, where he oversees the day-to-day operations; manages profit and loss, strategic initiatives, and business development activities; and oversees administrative and operations support functions for Amentum’s work for clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kosovo, Kuwait, Moldova, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Jordan, and Vietnam.

Mark has more than 20 years’ experience in leadership roles for the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), in both government and the private sector. Prior to joining Amentum, he led the E&E Strategic Business Unit at AECOM. Previously, he was a member of the U.S. Senior Executive Service with the DOE, serving in a variety of leadership positions, most recently as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management. Before that, Mr. Whitney served as the acting Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management (EM) and the Manager of EM’s Oak Ridge Office. Within NNSA, he was the acting Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, where he oversaw the operations of the Department’s global nuclear security and nonproliferation programs, and Assistant Deputy Administrator for Nonproliferation and International Security.
