The first Artemis rocket stage is guided toward NASA’s Pegasus barge Jan. 8 ahead of its forthcoming journey to NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Teams rolled out, or moved, the completed core stage for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to the barge in preparation for the core stage Green Run test series. Pegasus, which was modified to ferry SLS rocket hardware, will transport the core stage more than 40 miles from Michoud to Stennis for the comprehensive core stage Green Run test series. - [World’s Largest Thermal Conductive Heating Project](https://www.amentum.com/project/worlds-largest-thermal-conductive-heating-project/): Amentum recently executed the world’s largest Thermal Conductive Heating (TCH) project over a four-year period with our Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) thermal partner TerraTherm using a multiple - phase approach.  The former jet fuel farm project site was historically used for the storage of jet fuel in two 420,000-gallon bermed, above ground storage tanks (ASTs) and two 567,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs).  The ASTs were removed in 1994 and the ASTs were abandoned in place in 2000.   The successful completion of this project resulted in a cost avoidance of $218M by reducing the environmental remediation timeline by 140 years.  The multiple phase approach was dictated by the available electric power supply and the operational limitations resulting from forecasted mass loading on the thermal oxidizer.

- [Agricultural Infrastructure Activity: Increased availability of quality agricultural produce](https://www.amentum.com/project/agricultural-infrastructure-activity-increased-availability-of-quality-agricultural-produce/): The Feed the Future (FTF) Bangladesh Agricultural Infrastructure Development Activity (Agricultural Infrastructure Activity) seeks to address the infrastructure needs of farmers and related value chain actors through investments in rural roads, market centers, collection centers, cold storage facilities, and drainage/irrigation systems. By investing in rural infrastructure, the activity will increase incomes, create jobs, reduce postharvest losses, improve agricultural productivity and production, and strengthen food security. The activity will provide infrastructure services in the Zone of Influence (ZOI) and Zone of Resilience (ZOR).
- [Programme and Technical Requirements Framework, UK Radioactive Waste Management (RWM)](https://www.amentum.com/project/programme-and-technical-requirements-framework-uk-radioactive-waste-management-rwm/): In August 2020, Nuclear Waste Services, formerly known as UK Radioactive Waste Management, awarded a 2+1+1 year contract valued at £4.8 million to Amentum to support the Technical Requirements Programme to develop the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility (GDF). This contract enables Amentum to support Nuclear Waste Services with the next level of planning, design, and development for this critical UK national asset for the disposal of higher activity waste and spent fuel. Amentum’s solution covers a range of programmatic capabilities; this is provided by Amentum leading a wider team of industry experts delivering services including programme and project management to the Technical Directorate Delivery Board, development of the integrated work plan for Tranche 3 of the GDF Programme, project controls, change and issue management. Furthermore, Amentum- is supporting Nuclear Waste Services with specific deliverables in relation to requirements management, knowledge management, waste package specifications, geological disposal alternatives and further understanding of options for disposal. Amentum is working with a dedicated supply team and directly with the client team to ensure a consistently integrated approach is taken between projects associated with the GDF Programme.
- [Management & Operation of Sellafield Ltd, UK](https://www.amentum.com/project/management-operation-of-sellafield-ltd-uk/): Amentum-led global nuclear industry consortium, Nuclear Management Partners (NMP), was awarded a multi-billion pound contract to manage and operate the Sellafield site in West Cumbria, England, UK. The site is one of the UK’s largest industrial and construction sites and widely regarded as the world’s most complex and challenging nuclear site. The site has 1,200 buildings, over 200 contain nuclear inventory and 100 are categorised as being equivalent to a nuclear reactor in terms of potential hazard and security status. There are more than 450 ongoing engineering and construction projects with 19 valued at over £100 million.  NMP operated the site from 2008-2016.
- [Management & Operations of LLW Repository Ltd (LLWR), UK](https://www.amentum.com/project/management-operations-of-llw-repository-ltd-llwr-uk/): Amentum was the majority partner of the consortium responsible for the management and operation of the Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) in West Cumbria, UK and the development and implementation of the National Low Level Waste Programme. LLWR is the national facility for the disposal of low level radioactive waste in the UK. Upon contract award the client, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, saw an urgent need to expand capacity to meet the demand of the waste generators which would have seen the repository reach full capacity by 2022. Sourcing an alternative LLWR site would have been a lengthy process with an expected price tag of more than £2 billion and a significant cost burden to the UK government. Severe measures were required to avoid bringing the UK decommissioning programme to a standstill.

- [Navy – Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC)](https://www.amentum.com/project/navy-marine-corps-spectrum-center-nmsc-2/): Amentum provides complex systems engineering and technical support services in support of Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC) HQ, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) and the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center (NIWDC). Our staff provides Radio Frequency (RF) engineering, Spectrum Management (SM), and system coordination support to both the acquisition and operational community for Department of Navy (DON) spectrum certification, electromagnetic compatibility, frequency assignments, electromagnetic interference (EMI) resolution, risk identification, operational impact assessment and satellite coordination. Our team delivers expertise within regulatory bodies, spectrum forums, and DoD internal quorums both nationally and internationally, and has spectrum managers located globally who work with the actively deployed Navy and Marine Corps assets as well as coordinating with Host Nations, Combatant Commands, and other service elements.
- [Exotics Fuel Programme, Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd](https://www.amentum.com/project/exotics-fuel-programme-dounreay-site-restoration-ltd/): Under Amentum’s leadership, the highly prioritised Exotics and Out of Reactor Breeder Fuels Programme was successfully delivered from the Dounreay Site in Scotland. The task was to transport over 13 tonnes of ‘exotic’ fuel (unirradiated plutonium and uranium) material from Dounreay to Sellafield and other domestic and international locations for repurposing.  Completion of this activity lowered the security level required at the Dounreay site and ultimately advanced the decommissioning and clean-up mission. The Programme was valued at £329 million and was delivered from 2012-2019.
- [End State Contract for Dounreay Site Restoraton Ltd, UK](https://www.amentum.com/project/end-state-contract-for-dounreay-site-restoraton-ltd-uk/): Amentum was a part of a consortium who were awarded the End State contract by Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd in 2012. The contract included clean-up and demolition of the UK’s former fast reactor research and development centre, decommissioning of 35 separate but integrated projects - all designed to reduce site environmental risk to acceptable levels for “reasonable” foreseeable land uses. Amentum’s experience and expertise in managing waste and special nuclear materials programmes, resulted in them leading on the delivery of the Exotics and Fuels Programme, including nuclear material, fuel and exotics disposition. They were also responsible for delivery of waste management scope, including implementing a waste strategy, operations and managing treatment, storage and disposal of all wastes arising from the decommissioning programme. Amentum led the introduction and implementation of the waste-informed decommissioning strategy and during their tenure at Dounreay managed to open new waste routes enabling important progress of the decommissioning mission on site.
- [Construction of Vault 9, LLWR, UK](https://www.amentum.com/project/construction-of-vault-9-llwr-uk/): In 2008, the Amentum-led team managing the Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) had an urgent task to address capacity issues at the site. With disposal capacity in Vault 8 almost full (approximately 350 container spaces left) and waste arising at a phenomenal rate per year (over 700 containers), immediate action was required to alleviate backlog waste and avoid stalling the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s nuclear decommissioning programme. Construction of Vault 9, incorporating advances in technology, with multiple layers of environmental protection, was accelerated to ensure continued and uninterrupted storage at the Repository. In an unprecedent move, a designated area of the new vault was identified for early completion and handed over to the LLWR Site Operations team in July 2009 to enable storage of low level waste containers under fully regulated Site Licence Conditions, whilst construction of the remainder of the vault continued.
